Car history: |
This is a very original 1969 Corvette. Gold on black vinyl. Original redline spare tire and T3 headlights. Two tops. One repaint in the 90's. Door jambs are original paint. Great Bloomington Survivor candidate. All born with drivetrain. L68 400HP with M21 4 speed and 3:70 rear end. Transistor ignition also. Engine never rebuilt. Runs very well. This is a very early build car (9/24/68) with the rare 3955270 block casting that was only used for two months from August to October 1968. Car even has original rear shocks with front shocks replaced in the 70's. I had the original carbs rebuilt and recolored. Had the brake calipers rebuilt with stainless sleeves and O-ring pistons. New master cylinder too. Car had tank sticker on tank when I bought it and I took it off myself. Many pictures of this process. Tank sticker options are soft ray tinted glass, vinyl hard top, positraction axle, power brakes, 390 to 400 conversion, power steering, special wheel covers. Original Keys. Dealer installed locking Gas Cap with original key. Protecto Plate and owner history back to 1970. Five owner car with the third owning it for 36 years. Third owner still has the original hubcaps. He took them off and put them in a box when he bought the car in 1971. He added mag wheels and stored the originals. The original wheels are back on the car with BF Goodrich Radial T/A's showing hardly any wear. Original CA car. Some items replaced over the years are the alternator, starter, water pump, soft top(1976), mufflers (original pipes still on car), wiper door vacuum actuator, surge tank. Brand new AC Delco Battery. The radiator was recored using the original side tanks in the 80's and the fan shroud was not reinstalled. I have the fan shroud and bracket which will go with the car. GM made the least of this model and this car is like a time capsule. Here is a list of the original part casting numbers and date codes: Block 3955270 I48 (9/4/1968) Stamp Pad T0919LQ 19S702547 Heads 3931063 H288 (8/28/1968) Both Carbs Outer 3902353 843 (2/12/1968) Both Carb Middle 3940929 881 (3/21/1968) Distributor 1111954 8H19 (9/19/1968) Smog Pump 7801149 24781S (9/3/1968 Shift 1 S) Fan Clutch 3937771 81568SC (8/15/1968 Switzer Clutch) M21 Transmission 3925660 19S702547(Vin Stamped Twice) P9P11 (Muncie, 1969 Model Year, Sept. 11 1968) Differential Date Code 2 FA 9 13 68 W (2nd Shift 3:70 9/13/1968 Warren) Rear Shocks 3192869 241 68 (8/28/1968) Frame Stencil 3949093 7-8-68 87,468 miles.
